I also made aliah in the early 90s and was cursed out by a shopkeeper for being Russian although I’m not. I learned Hebrew in a Russian ulpan so i needed the accent to be understood!
And someday you might be able to tell a story that does not advocate genocide. And someday you might be able to craft a tale that does not seep up from the floor with a nearly pleasant asphyxiating numbness while also raining down a fine greenish yellow ash from banal slits in the ceiling. Someday you might be able to weave a yarn that encourages and invigorates an effort in young people to make a world where Palestine is safe for Israelis and Israel is welcoming to Palestinians?
And, it’s not only you, Uri, that has this gleaming potential and this agonizing obligation. It’s especially true for everyone who does not live in Palestine/Israel. And even more especially true for those who live and VOTE in the US which has been making genocide against Palestinians possible since at least 1967.

Palestine must be safe and welcoming for Israelis, and Israel must be welcoming and safe for Palestinians.
Genocidal language must stop.
Defenses, excuses, and justifications of genocide must stop.
Genocide and ethnic cleansing must stop.
Murder, genocide, starvation, and revenge are not the same as self defense.
Palestine must be welcoming and safe for Israelis. Israel use be safe and welcoming for Arabs.
