It's been very amusing watching the Palestinians and their Islamist and progressive allies scramble and panic and screech about genocide after president-elect Trump said last night, "I'm not gonna start wars, I'm gonna stop wars."
But why? Isn't "stop the war" literally their chant right now? Isn't a ceasefire what they've been calling for from the very second their ululating barbarian hordes broke through the border and started massacring Jewish families on a peaceful Saturday morning, one year ago?
The truth is that the enemy is terrified of peace.
The main purpose of this war was to prevent peace spreading in the region. From the very start of it, I said the timing had nothing to do with any new Israeli policy. This year in Gaza was much like any other year in Gaza. What made this year unusual was the very real prospect of peace in the Middle East.
The enemy was terrified by the prospect of normalization between Israel and Saudi Arabia following the Abraham Accords. One by one, they saw Arab states abandoning pointless wars and replacing them with a path to peace and prosperity. For a revolutionary, be he a Marxist or an Islamist, nothing is worse than peace and prosperity. How can the masses rise in revolt and overthrow the system if their life isn’t hell? Why would the Arabs need Iran to save them if they don't need saving at all?
And so, since Israel and America were putting out the fires and turning hell into paradise, the enemy endeavored to blow the whole thing up. To put it bluntly, the objective of the war they started was war.
It is a war on peace in the most literal sense. They don’t care who wins or who loses as long as there’s more suffering, more hatred, more destruction, more chaos.
This is the source of their power. They have nothing else to offer. Peace makes them irrelevant. Yesterday's news.
And now Trump is threatening to put out their beautiful fire again. This is why they’re panicking at hearing their lying words spoken truthfully back at them. Peace is possible once more. For the revolutionaries of the world, peace is death and oblivion. It is the absolute worst thing that can happen to them.
For everyone else, peace is life.
Spot on.
