Agree with everything bar the assessment on Afghanistan and Iraq. They went in for many other reasons than 9/11. Most of Israeli intelligence also agreed that Iraq was not the real battlefield and pointed then as now to Iran. The world continues to blame Israel for dragging America into the war of course. But the war will come to America regardless, the Islamic world has smelled the weakness and they will align accordingly. China is frolicking in the background…. If America tumbles at the first hurdle, you can be rest assured they won’t stop China taking Taiwan.
I didn't mean they went in because of 9/11 or that it was the correct response. Only that the shock of 9/11 provided the US with the spirit that allowed it to do these things.
You put into words what I’m thinking. USA looks weak and helpless. If they can force USA to stop Israel, Islam has won and yet its Jewish blood being spilled not American.
There is a lot to unpack here: I’ll start with Trump’s words about his goals after the surprise attack last July: “ Iran can never have a nuclear weapon.” That goal he never changed. Also, when the protesters in Iran ( in January ? ) were in the streets, Trump said to the Iranian protesters: Hold on. We are coming to HELP you. He did not say to fight the whole war for you or destroy your infrastructure or whole country, which Trump said, “ would be bad for the people.” He specifically said we would like to see regime change but the Iranian people would have to change that, not the U.S.
Yes, Trump believes that building coalitions in the Middle East is good for those people and for the world because they could then focus on trade and peace instead of eradicating infidels. But part of the spiritual problem is that the Israeli government that now exists is largely secular and many are atheists. The majority are not “ spiritual” in the true sense of the word. The country has existed there since 1948 because the U. S. supports it. The NT definition of a Jew is clearly stated by the Jewish rabbi Saul, ( Paul) as not connected to ethnicity but to the living God by faith in the Messiah. The U.S. is weary of losing Americans in foreign wars. So if winning the war in Iran means utterly destroying its people or its country , no, neither Trump nor the American people want to do that. And the fact is that all the people who want the U.S. to go to the bitter end want the U.S. to do it alone with Israel and destroy our own country in the process. Europe has barely lifted a finger so far. That is the reality. Iran and its proxies continue their evil regime. It is a problem God will have to solve.
Then maybe the american government should stop interfering in every war that has been inflicted on Israel since 1967, so they can actually get the decisive victory that keeps getting snatched away from them by a bunch of stupid and corrupt politicians, who don’t have the brains or morals of a goat.
The goal of war is victory, not "ceasefire." One starts from ceasefire, so ending there just sets conditions for a restart. Israel understands this but the US and Europe just want a quiet summer.
Additionally, they honestly don’t care if Israel survives in the long run. The fact that Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East means nothing to them.Despite the stereotype that”Jewish money controls the world” to the contrary,Qatari investment money is buying up large swaths of real estate, influence, university departments and even affording a Prestigious presidential jet to anAmerican President who has been willing to capitulate and fold in Iran.
I will hold off saying what I think on this occassion, evil is in charge everywhere, and it hates Israel, it hates righteousness, and it hates the meek and gentle salt of the earth types. Moshe was meek, Yehoshua was meek, the meekest people made the biggest changes to our planet, so I will keep reading Torah, Psalms and have 100% faith, not 99.99% that GOD will stand up for those who know HIM in spirit and truth. Those who love HIM with all their hearts, the rest can eat dust for all I care.
You are correct in seeing this as a spiritual issue. Trump doesn't operate or hold to higher moral principles - only what is materialistic and he thinks everyone thinks the same. The West fundamentally changed post WWII.
It's so strange that the Western allies understood the moral war they were in and were willing to make big sacrifices against the Axis alliance. The psychological and moral break has only resulted in losses for the West and a total misunderstanding of how the Middle East works. The question remains at what cost will we learn.
Add a plunging popularity and mid-term elections to Trump's list of why he folded. But to give Iran the right to dictate the terms regarding Lebanon and Hezbollah is beyond the pale. It would not have been hard to turn that around.
Another genius move by Mr. Security in Israel. Being surprised that Trump betrayed Israel is not really more stupid than being surprised that paying tribute to Hamas wouldn't keep them from attacking Israel.
Let's hope Israel does not cave bust thoroughly destroyed its enemies: Hamas, The PLO, Hizbollah and then Israel will be free from the river to the sea. Great piece.
As Alan Mairson always reminds us, the Iranians have a story and they are sticking to it. Stories matter. History matters. What am I willing to sacrifice for is the question that matters most. In fact, having something to live for means I defend it. That is called patriotism.
I still can’t believe this is happening. For once, I thought, “we are going to do the right thing by the world and Israel is our greatest ally. Now let’s kick some IRGC ass.”
We started a fight but then left Israel alone with the bully on the playground. But here is the thing: Israel knows how to deal with bullies. Trump and Vance can go pound sand if they think Israel is not going to defend its northern border.
How's that theory working out in Gaza? Years of war. Many casualties, Enormous gift to anti-israeli campaigns, massive financial costs and damage to the Israeli economy. All with zero positive accomplishments. Hamas is still entrenched in power. Israel has been invading lebanon for 40 years also - lots of accomplishments!
The war against Iran is a moral war: democracy and human rights are fighting for their continued existence. A nuclear Iran would extend its empire well past Israel to eliminate freedom everywhere--especially now that it knows that the west will not defend itself. The US and Europe are so overconfident and so patronizing that they refuse to recognize a real threat.
An excellent piece. Apparently this “deal” is fairly unpopular both with traditional Republicans and the MAGA wing (according to the DT). It’s one thing to oppose the war from the outset, it’s another to agree to a set of terms that emasculates the US. Trump is very sensitive to charges of weakness, so for both him and Bibi there are no easy “outs”.
It’s not beyond the bounds of possibility that this helps split the Republicans.

That’s also true!

As Churchill said to chamberlain in 1938,
‘You were given the choice between war and dishonour. You chose dishonour, and you will have war’
Seems to fit this situation to a tee.
Israeli want peace...but what you need is victory.

Iran does not want peace. They have wanted a worldwide Islamist caliphate for 47 years. Are Americans even going to get that message now?
Iran wanted an Iranian empire for 2500 years. Islam just changed the flavor of this empire.
The goal of war is victory, not "ceasefire." One starts from ceasefire, so ending there just sets conditions for a restart. Israel understands this but the US and Europe just want a quiet summer.

Now IDF soldiers are taking videos of themselves burning US flags. Good move habibi- way to lose the pr war
Astute

typo corrections: but thoroughly destroys its enemies

How would you defeat the Houthis? Trump tried to bomb them.
Bingo. For someone who isn’t American, you got the assessment right. Trump is a business man and he’s in the business of making money.
