Welcome to Uri's Substack!
Most of you are reading this because you were subscribed to my previous newsletter or follow me on Twitter, so you already know who I am and what I do. However, for the newcomers, here’s a summary:
My name is Uri. I’m an Israeli writer who writes about Israel. Shocking, I know.
This Substack is going to be dedicated to my ongoing serialized story Seed of Amalek, a fantasy adventure set in modern Israel but full of Biblical creatures, local folklore, and a conspiracy that goes all the way to the top.
It follows Eran, Dor, Yaniv, and Tamar. They're seventeen-year-old Israelis living in Samaria, where barbed-wire fences separate their towns from Arab villages, with strips of thorny wilderness in between. A hiking trip leads them to an illegal excavation, an attack by a hairy blue monster, a fleeing Bedouin girl with astonishing tattoos, and an encounter with the fabled Nephilim.
Eran and his friends want to protect their Bedouin friend and help the Nephilim. They also want to know what the mysterious strangers are looking for beneath the earth. This would've been difficult enough, but with them also being hunted by terrorists who plot to unleash a horror God himself concealed, things are going to get quite dire!
Expect a new chapter every week and feel free to comment! Nothing is set in stone… yet.
In addition to Seed of Amalek, there will also be short stories set in the same universe and the occasional geopolitical rant (let’s be honest, that’s why most of you started following me in the first place.)
